Is Nvidia GTX 1660 Super is good for Gaming in 2022

Nvidia and AMD are the leading companies in the Graphics Card business, fighting for the market through their products. Today we will be looking at Nvidia’s GTX 1660 Super in detail. GTX 1660 Super is the later version of GTX 1660 and, of course, provides better performance than its predecessor.

Nvidia GTX 1660 super is the best choice for gamers who are starting new. If you are on a budget and are looking to play most of the latest games, then it is the perfect product.

What does GTX 1660 Super offer?

The GTX 1660 Super is built upon TU116 architecture. The GTX 1660 Super has 1530 MHz of base clock speed which can be boosted to 1785MHz. Just like GTX 1660, GTX 1660 Super has 6GB VRAM, but it stands out because it has GDDR6. The 1660 Super provides the best memory speed among all 16 series graphics cards with 14Gbps (even more than the later version GTX 1660 Ti). Due to the lack of RT and Tensor cores, the GTX 1660 Super cannot support ray tracing.

Why you should choose GTX 1660 Super?

It is quite surprising what GTX 1660 Super offers to the PC at such a price. If we compare the GTX 1660 Super with GTX 1660 and GTX 1660 Ti, the difference between the performance of GTX 1660 Super and GTX 1660 Ti is very narrow. Although 1660 Ti is the later version it’s hard to choose from the two, so we will recommend GTX 1660 Super ahead of 1660 Ti as the latter adds up more price with a minor performance boost.

Why is GTX 1660 Super is the best choice for 1080p gaming?

As most games are played in 1080p resolution, GTX 1660 Super can handle them elegantly. The GTX 1660 Super, GTX 1660, and GTX 1660 Ti, when testing on Metro Exodus at 1080p, averaged 41FPS, 38FPS, and 44FPS, respectively.

While testing the cards in Time Spy, GTX 1660 Super performed only 5% slower than GTX 1660 Ti and 14% faster than GTX 1660.

On The Division 2, both GTX 1660 Super and GTX 1660 Ti showed a real promise. Both cards had a difference of only a couple of FPS on average, with GTX 1660 Super averaging 68.6 FPS and GTX 1660 Ti averaging 71.8FPS.

We also tested the cards on GTA V, where GTX 1660 Super and GTX 1660 Ti averaged 95.0FPS and 95.3FPS, respectively. The above comparison shows clearly how GTX 1660 Super stands out of all 16 series Graphic cards for gaming.

When you should not choose GTX 1660 Super?

The Nvidia GTX 1660 Super can provide a taste of high-end games, but to get the best experience of those, you will need to get a better graphics card, and if you can afford a better one, we will be supporting your decision. As we have mentioned early, the GTX 1660 Super is the ideal choice for new gamers and the ones on a budget. If you are looking to upgrade the 1660 Super by spending extra bucks on other accessories, we will recommend you to buy the latest graphics card in the first place.

If you want to play the latest games with Ray-tracing and DLSS, then GTX 1660 Super is not a good choice.

Does it provide good value in its price and which GTX 1660 Super version is best?

If we compare the Release price of GTX 1660 Super with other graphics cards in this price tag, the GTX 1660 Super provides a superb price/performance ratio. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 is released with a price tag of 250 USD, which is only 20$ more than the GTX 1660 Super.

The RTX 3050 is almost 10% fast and provides RTX and DLSS features, making it a better option than GTX 1660 Super.
Compared to Nvidia GTX 1660, GTX 980 Ti, GTX 1660 Ti, and GTX 1070, the GTX 1660 Super provides a better price/performance ratio.

The MSI Gaming X variant of the GTX 1660 Super is the best of all versions. The card features 2% factory overclocking, superb cooling performance, and minimal noise.

Final Verdict

If you are entering the gaming community, we would highly recommend GTX 1660 Super as it is the best entry-level graphic card one can get. If you are a regular gamer, then your budget comes into consideration. For gamers on a budget, we would recommend GTX 1660 Super, but if you can afford a better one, you surely should go for that as this investment will benefit you in the future.

After all, for some, gaming is a passion, and for some, it is just a hobby, but whatever category you fall in, the best system can give you the best experience.
